Supporter promise

When you make the decision to support us, you do so because you know that when a childhood is overshadowed by abuse, neglect or poverty, hope can be especially hard to find

Like us, you want to give a child a positive future. You know they deserve it. You want to use your precious time, your money and raise your voice to give them a brighter future.

We think that’s amazing. And we know that you don’t have to. So we’re incredibly grateful that you’ve put your faith in us to achieve real change for children. And we want to recognise your commitment by making some commitments of our own to you.

Our promise to you

  1. We will always be guided by our vision to create a society that works for all children and uphold our values and principles to achieve the greatest impact for young people

We aim to build an equitable, diverse and inclusive community of staff, supporters, partners and young people acting together, and we’ll always uphold these principles.

We will challenge negative stereotypes of young people. We’ll always see the hope in them and will never give up on them.

We will raise up the voices of young people and speak out when we see injustice.

We will be driven by our values of being brave, ambitious, trusted and supportive
  2. We will communicate in a way that works for you, and recognise that this can change over time

We’ll make it easy for you to change the way we keep in touch with you and remind you in all communications how to do it, including how to receive fewer communications or stop them completely. All you need to do is call our Supporter Care team on 0300 303 7000 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or send us an email.

We’ll let you know how your support helps children and share stories, news and information about the amazing impact your support is making possible.

We’ll be open about how money is raised and spent and we’ll always act in best interests of the young people we support.

We will never sell your data or share it with other organisations. You can read our full privacy policy.
  3. We value the many ways you want to contribute to building a society that works for all children and we’ll give you opportunities to get involved in the ways that suit you best.

You can donate, volunteer with us, campaign to help children – or all three! We’ll give you the chance to support vulnerable young people in a way that works for you and we’ll never pressure you to do something you don’t feel comfortable with.

We’ll support you with your fundraising, volunteering and campaigning and ensure our friendly team is on hand with tips and advice
  4. We’ll be respectful, open, honest and accountable, and ensure our partners and agencies who work on our behalf do the same.

We’ll be careful and sensitive when talking to people who appear vulnerable.

We’ll provide training so that our staff and partners act ethically and uphold our standards.

We’ll regularly perform checks to ensure this and will always take action if people acting on our behalf fail to meet our high standards.
  5. We will continue to meet high fundraising and data protection standards.

We will strictly adhere to all fundraising and data protection legislation and guidelines.

We will always be committed to meeting and exceeding best practice in fundraising and marketing through active membership of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and the Fundraising Regulator. If any guidance changes, then so do we.

We are also upholding the Fundraising Regulator's fundraising promise, to be respectful, open, honest and accountable to the public. You can find the Fundraising Regulator’s logo on all of our communications so that when you receive something from us you know you can trust it.
